2023 NBA MVP Candidates

As the second half of the NBA regular season began on Thursday, there are several storylines to keep an eye on, including the race for the Most Valuable Player (MVP). Here’s our prediction on where the awards stand as we come out of the All-Star break:

For the MVP race, Nikola Jokić is currently leading the way. With impressive performances and leading Denver’s success as the West’s top team, Jokić’s triple-double average makes a strong case for an MVP three-peat.

Joel Embiid is also in the running, especially if he can lead the Sixers to the top of the East by the end of the regular season. His head-to-head battles against Jokić could work in his favor, and a strong performance in March could bolster his MVP case.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is also a contender for MVP, as he leads the Milwaukee Bucks on a quest to win the Eastern Conference. Despite a wrist injury that kept him out for a period of time, Antetokounmpo’s contribution during Milwaukee’s 12-game winning streak showcased his value and impact on the team.

There are a few more players on this list and 2023 NBA MVP odds. It’s always a good idea to see what writers and other readers are thinking in regards to a topic that is as subjective as this one. They can help you see points that you may have dismissed or simply were blind to.

A Brief History of the NBA MVP Award

The NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) award has been presented annually since the 1955-56 season to the most outstanding player of the regular season in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The winner is selected by a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters in the United States and Canada.
